so not sure if you guys follow college basketball, but right now is one of my favorite times of the year. March Madness is literally a month full of the best basketball competition of the year. I was surprised to find out that after the games, on live broadcast they basically tell you to also watch the games online for free. It’s genius, because I’m sure people would love to watch their favorite highlights and games again for free. and if you ever go to cbsports.com to watch the games, it’s basically commercial free. instead of commercial timeouts, you have banner ads and sponsorships posted all over the webpage. still a source of income for networks, just a different way of advertising. but then again, there’s something to be said about the ritual of getting together with friends and watching a game on one screen.
what’s to say that at a certain point, when internet speeds improve that people won’t just completely ignore watching “broadcasted video content” on their television and just watch it online? a computer screen isn’t vastly different from a television screen. so is this another sign that TV is doomed?
